Fall days are here and what could be better when looking out the window on a dreary day than drinking this Simple Maple Latte?  My maple obsession started during our trip to Vermont last month and has not shown any signs of subsiding.  I drank my fair share of maple lattes when I was there, although they were iced because it was early September and Vermont was still quite warm.  But I was determined to make my own version at home, and imagine my delight when I figured out how easy it was!

I thought about making a syrup for this – but really what is the point when maple syrup is already just that?  So all it takes is some strongly brewed coffee ( I use my french press or bialetti), milk made foamy with a quick and easy method that doesn’t require anything fancy, maple syrup to taste and a pinch of spices.  Barely any thought needs to go into it, which is great when you are bleary eyed in the morning and just trying to get some caffeine in you!

The trick to making your milk foamy even if you don’t have a milk frother is easy – just pour your milk into a mason jar and heat in the microwave until warm (not too hot).  Remove and screw on the lid tightly.  Then give it a few good shakes, until the milk gets foamy.  Be sure to open carefully as sometimes the milk will build up pressure and spray out when you open the jar.  Pour into your coffee and you have a latte without needing any expensive machines.

Funny thing, that’s how we had lattes while camping one week. One of the guys in the group did exactly the same thing you described only he heated the milk over the campfire.

    Added the rustic touch LOL

I’ll definitely give this one a try!

We must be on the same wavelength, because I’ve been drinking the same thing! My local grocery store makes them and of course I wanted to try and figure out how to make it myself. Looks delicious and beautiful-I love the warm coppery light.
