This Easy Italian Sausage Marinara Sauce Recipe takes a little longer than my Easy 20 Minute Marinara because it has a few more ingredients, but it is still pretty quick at about thirty minutes to make, so it is suitable for a busy weeknight dinner.

How do you make Sausage Marinara Sauce?

What I love about this hearty marinara sauce is that it is so easy and fast. First you dice the onion and bell pepper and mince some garlic.  After that, you just brown the sausage, saute the onions and bell peppers, then add the crushed tomatoes and simmer for about 20 minutes. While that is simmering, you can boil some pasta or microwave a spaghetti squash, and before you know it, dinner is served!

Easy Sausage Marinara Sauce Recipe

This Quick and Easy Italian Sausage Marinara Sauce Recipe is a versatile meat sauce with so many uses.  It makes a quick and flavorful meal as a pasta sauce, or over spaghetti squash, on rustic bread as a sandwich, in a lasagna and so much more!

Ingredients 

Instructions 

  • In a large sauté pan over medium heat, cook sausage until browned. Remove from pan.
  • Return pan to heat, add the olive oil. When hot, add the onions and bell peppers, season with salt and pepper. Sauté until they have released their water and water has evaporated, and they are soft and starting to turn golden. 
  • Add the garlic and oregano, sauté for 30 seconds. Stir in the crushed tomatoes, then the sausage. Simmer for at least 20 minutes to let flavors combine.

  1. I added 2 table spoons of sugar and a dollop of sour cream to cut down the acid and boost the flavor and texture. Like it either way, just added my own additions. Awesome Sauce!

This is truly the best easiest sauce I ever made I will make continue to make this one from now on and tweak it a little here and there like I just put some Parmesan cheese in with my meat and some red chili peppers and little kick put in my red blend California wine put it in a little bit of olive oil in my meat also and red vinegar wine let me get some more and cook very good sausageAnd my crushed tomatoes oregano basil thyme salt pepper and will haven’t tested yet haven’t decided whether I’m gonna make a lasagna maybe I’ll make a little bit of spaghetti and then with the sauce left over I will make small lasagna and some pizza bread and some Italian bread in the oven

    This was a huge hit in my house today. Everyone kept raving about it. It was so simple but had surprisingly rich flavor. I also added shredded Parmigiano Reggiano which gave it a slightly sharp flavor.
