Mix all ingredients together until just combined. Do not overwork the meat or the burgers might be tough.
Shape into 4 equal sized patties, use your thumb to make an indent in the center of each patty.
Grill over medium high heat for 2-4 minutes per side, until internal temperature reaches 160 degrees. If adding cheese, lay sliced of cheese over the burgers in the last 1-2 minutes of cooking.
Serve on a bun with more BBQ sauce and other desired toppings.
Notes
TIPS:Be sure to finely dice the onion and garlic. Large chunks can cause your burger to fall apart.Make them about an inch larger in diameter than the bun to account for shrinkage. Use your thumb to put an indent in the middle of the burger patty to keep it from doming on top.
