Alright, y’all.  I think it’s time for a cocktail.  Right?  We are all weary and it’s Friday, so put your feet up and enjoy this Apple Cider Irish Mule and maybe turn off the news for a little while.  This Apple Cider Irish Mule is a twist on the Irish Mule I shared earlier this year.  And an Irish Mule is just a variation on the traditional Moscow Mule, but it uses whiskey instead of vodka.

Personally, I am still just starting to build my appreciation for whiskey drinks, although you wouldn’t know if from this blog, considering I have quite a few whiskey drinks here.  Like my  Maple Whiskey Cider, Apple Old Fashioned or classic Manhattan, for example.  But whiskey is just such a great spirit for fall and winter drinks, I just can’t help myself!

I love using fresh apple cider in cocktails, especially if you can get the really good stuff from the apple orchard.  I didn’t make it apple picking this year, sadly, so I just used some store-bought apple cider and it was still very good.  The apple cider mixed with the ginger beer makes such a great, warm fall flavor.  Garnished with the apple slices and cinnamon sticks, you have everything you need!

  1. Made this to go with our Thanksgiving dinner and it was perfect – not overly sweet and nicely subtle flavors that played well with dinner. A better/more strongly flavored ginger beer is likely your friend here if you aren’t pairing it with food.

  2. has anyone tried this as a hot beverage?? I am looking something to make for Christmas that will be a hot drink with cider & some kind of Liquor.

    1. Deena, yes, I’m sure that would be great! Just multiply the amounts by how many people you are serving. For example, to make 8 servings it would be 16 ounces of whiskey (2 cups), 32 ounces apple cider (4 cups) and 48 ounces Ginger Beer (6 cups). I would just not make it very far in advance or the ginger beer will go flat.

  3. this looks so sweet and easy! I love love love the cider from one of my local orchards — the supermarket stuff just can never compare.

I am sipping on this now. I had all the ingredients and a bottle of Jameson Black Barrel Select Reserve. Leaves are falling, i am in a hoodie, and this is in my hand. This is why Fall is my favorite! It doesnt get any better than this!

Gorgeous photos! Whiskey drinks are my favorite and I think it would go great with apple cider-brillent idea!
