Everyone loves brunch, and if there is anything that can make brunch even better, it’s mimosas! I love a mimosa, but I wanted to make a winter mimosa for Christmas morning, so I decided to try these cranberry mimosas. To make them extra festive, I made some sugar frosted cranberry and rosemary garnishes. I just love how the sugared rosemary looks like a little snowy Christmas tree!

How to make a Cranberry Mimosa

Cranberry mimosas are super simple to make. You just combine cranberry juice with sparkling wine – I used prosecco. The garnishes are optional but they make the drink extra festive and fun.

For the best cranberry mimosas, fill a champagne flute about 1/3 full with cranberry juice cocktail, then top with your favorite sparkling wine. I used prosecco, but you can use champagne, cava or any other type of dry sparkling wine.

Can I make a cranberry mimosa a mocktail?

Yes! You can easily turn this cranberry mimosa into a non-alcoholic mocktail by swapping out the sparkling wine for sparkling water, sparkling cider or even ginger ale.

How to make sugared cranberry garnish for cranberry mimosas

Making sugared cranberries and rosemary is optional but make the cranberry mimosas extra special. Making sugared cranberry garnishes is simple. I found that it is easier to first thread the cranberries onto a cocktail pick and THEN coat them in simple syrup and sugar. This is easier than sugaring the cranberries first and then trying to thread them onto the cocktail pick, because they sometimes burst while trying to thread onto a skewer.

To make cranberry and rosemary garnishes

  • To make simple syrup – combine 1 part water and 1 part sugar in a small sauce pan over medium heat. Whisk occasionally until sugar is dissolved. Allow to come to a simmer, then remove from heat. Allow to cool and then transfer to a sealed container and store in the fridge.
  • Dip rosemary sprigs in simple syrup and allow excess to drip off. Hold the rosemary sprig over a bowl of sugar and use a spoon to sprinkle sugar over the rosemary sprig. Set on a rack to dry until ready to use.
  • Thread three cranberries on a cocktail pick or toothpick. Use a spoon to drizzle simple syrup over cranberries, let excess drip off. Hold cocktail pick with cranberries over a bowl of sugar, use a spoon to sprinkle sugar over the cranberries, allowing excess to drop off. Set cranberry garnishes on a rack until ready to use.
