St. Patrick’s Day is coming up and although I am excited about the Irish Guinness Beef Stew and Easy Sauteed Cabbage, I am just as excited about the Irish Whiskey Cocktails that we will be drinking. My Irish Mule Cocktail has been very popular since I shared it a few years ago, but this year I wanted to share a different Irish cocktail  – the Irish Maid.

What is an Irish Maid Cocktail?

The Irish Maid Cocktail is a floral and refreshing whiskey cocktail, with cucumber, lemon juice and the elderflower liqueur, St. Germain.  This is a great cocktail for people who are not regular whiskey drinkers, and one might even call this a “girly” whiskey drink.  Although don’t let that stop you if you are of the more masculine persuasion! This cocktail is so tasty and it goes down VERY easily, so beware!

For the Irish Maid, we use the following ingredients:

  • Irish Whiskey
  • St. Germain (an elderflower liqueur)
  • Lemon juice
  • simple syrup
  • cucumber slices

How do you make an Irish Maid Cocktail?

The Irish Maid Cocktail is easy to make. Simply muddle cucumber slices in a cocktail shaker, then add ice and the whiskey, St. Germain, simple syrup and lemon juice.  Shake to combine, then strain into a cocktail glass over ice and garnish with more cucumber slices for garnish.  Enjoy!
