Whew, how is everyone recovering from their long weekend?  Those weekends throw me off, what about you?  The weather is warming up again, but the last week has been super rainy and grey here in Seattle.  That was what got me thinking about this lavender latte.  Actually, the idea was first put into my head by my friend Meg who commented on my Lavender Collins that she had been drinking lavender lattes lately.  I’ve been a big fan of making my own syrups for coffee for years, and have several recipes on the blog including Vanilla, Autumn Spice and Gingerbread, so of course I wanted to try this right away!  I already had the syrup on hand from the Lavender Collins so making this was a snap.  And how about that multitasking syrup, huh?  Lavender in the morning, lavender in the evening.

There is something about a rainy, grey day that makes sipping on this lavender latte extra cozy.  Bonus points if you can wear leggings and listen to a relaxing playlist.  And hey, guess what!?!  I have a playlist for you!  It has been awhile since I shared a playlist on the blog, right?  I have actually been making them every month for the last few months with the intention of sharing them, but so far haven’t gotten that far.  I’ve been thinking about doing a monthly recap post where I share some highlights of the month, the top recipes, maybe a few things around the web that I am currently into, and possibly a playlist.  Not sure if that is something you all would be into, but I might do it soon and see what you think.  In the meantime, please enjoy this playlist with a lavender latte, preferably while wearing leggings. (Scroll to the bottom of this post for the playlist!)

A few notes about this recipe:  I don’t have an espresso machine, so I use an inexpensive Bialetti Moka Pot.  It is a stovetop espresso maker and is one of my favorite ways to make coffee at home.  In order to make the foam for the latte, I do this easy trick:  Pour the milk or half and half into a mason jar, warm up in the microwave for 30 seconds.  Screw on the lid and shake it until foamy (not too long, you don’t want to turn it into butter!).  Be sure to screw the lid on tightly or you might have a milk explosion (it has happened to me).  That is it!  No need to have a crazy expensive espresso machine to enjoy this latte!

So the only Lavender flavored food I’ve had has been lavender ice cream and I LOVED it. I am dying to try this now and I know once I make that syrup, I’m literally going to use it in everything! just need to know where to find the lavender!

    1. Lavender ice cream is THE BEST Shadi! I bought my lavender in the bulk section at a natural grocery store, but you can also buy it online!

  2. I made this for my sister who was visiting this morning… her comment? Wow… this is the best latte Ive ever had. Now considering I don’t ever make lattes, I think that has to be a tribute to your recipe! Thanks so much! (and ps, we drizzled a little of the lavender syrup over our croissants… omg, yum!

    1. Oh YAY ,Michele! I am so happy to hear that, thank you for letting me know! And drizzled over a croissant!?! Sounds heavenly!

  3. This is so creative…I am a coffee-a-holic and I can’t wait to give this a try!

  4. I’m soooo glad you shared this! I’d never come across this idea before but it looked so perfect, I had to try it. I made the syrup over the weekend then added it to my morning latte on Monday – but I got a bit syrup happy and put wayyyy too much in, was way too sweet and couldn’t drink it, didn’t have time to remake so had to go to Starbucks. But tried again on Tuesday and put less syrup in and it was A+++ SO GOOD!
Thank you for the recipe, this is gonna be a staple in my house now!
Will have to try your Lavender collins with it next 😉

    Pinning and sharing!

  5. I was eyeing the lavender syrup behind the bar at one of our favorite restaurants today and was wondering if I should make some! This latte sounds heavenly! Now I certainly will have to! xo.

  6. Oh this looks just so cozy!! It’s been so hot by us lately but that doesn’t stop me from enjoying all my favorite hot beverages! This sounds wonderful!

So much yes on lavender in the morning, lavender in the evening. 🙂 How cool is it that you came up with this idea from reading through your comments? 🙂 Okay, I’m gonna suggest all kinds of stuff now and hope that you make it! Pretty please?? 😉 PLAYLIST: OMG, the playlist. Did I tell you that we are music twins?? I mean, MS MR, the National, Miike Snow?? Dude. Visiting your blog is always such a pleasure. Now, I get to dream about this gorgeous lavender latte AND listen to some good tunes. What more do you really need in life? Pinning, naturally. 🙂
P.S. That GIF is everything. That is all.

These lavender lattes look absolutely beautiful! So much better than the ones I was sipping on and I’ll be dreaming of leggings, sweatshirts, and foggy cool weather as the temperature get ridiculously hot here. I love the idea of sharing playlists too! I’m alway too lazy to make my own and I love discovering new music from other people’s playlists.

  9. What an awesome idea, Meghan! I’ve never heard of a lavender latte but it sounds fab! Nowadays lattes can be anything you can them to be really, as there are just so many variations out there, so I don’t see why they can’t be lavender! 😀 Would definitely be interested in reading your monthly recap posts too. Sounds great 🙂 And I love that this recipe even comes wih a playlist! You really take care of your readers Meghan!!

  10. I have a cup of coffee at my side right now, but it does seem boring after seeing your post…. The lavender syrup sounds great, I will have to dry some lavender this summer…

  11. I need this beverage right now, since I’ve been having trouble with sleep lately. Yum!

  12. This sounds like the ultimate relaxing beverage before the craziness of the work day begins!

  13. Lavender in a latte? Sounds delicious. Never had. I’m a latte fan anyway, so this would be right up my alley. And I’m all about the playlists. I haven’t made one in soooooo long and got to get on that. I was listening to some music the other day in the car and realized that I really need to update my list. Songs I’ve listened to over and over again. Need some new stuff 🙂 Love any suggestions! Here’s to another great weekend and wearing leggings and drinking lattes 😉

    1. Thanks Dawn! I have the same problem with listening to the same music over and over, that was why I started making monthly playlists! I hope you enjoy it!

  14. I could definitely go for one of these right now! I’ve never really used lavender before but this sounds delicious. Love these photos too.

Also….you put Langhorne on your playlist <3<3<3<3<3

  17. How lovely! This is such a sweet idea and perfect way to start the day! I haven’t used lavender flavours much in my baking but perhaps I should be!

  18. I’m 43% more relaxed just from looking at these gorgeous pictures. Shooting you a PM with tons of technical questions. I’m just so happy thinking about all the money this is going to save me. Take that, Hipster Brooklyn Café (not the real name.)

  19. LOVE. Gorgeous. Must try. Long weekends throw me off too, I don’t understand the concept of coming back to work…. bleh. Also super jealous of rain and gray right now because we are having a crazy heatwave here in Sacramento that I would love to end immediately.

    1. Thank you Leslie! We had a really hot spring and it is supposed to get hot again – so it was nice to have a break!
