10 Healthy breakfast Recipes to start your year off right!

HAPPY NEW YEAR!  Is everyone excited?  I’m excited.  A New Year is full of possibility, and I have big plans for 2016.  I’ve been really getting into goal setting, because I recently discovered that if you don’t set a goal you will never reach it.  Big surprise, right?  I think I spent the majority of my life feeling like other people were successful just by chance.  I mean, I knew they worked hard, but I kind of thought that they just lucked into the right circumstances.  I’ve always been willing to work hard, but for a long time I didn’t know what I wanted.  Now I realize that in order to acheive anything, I need to set a goal and make a plan.  Even if I only acheive half of what I set out to do, that is loads better than spinning my wheels becuase I don’t really know what I’m trying to do.

One thing that keeps me on track is a healthy breakfast.

I don’t really like to set “resolutions”, but part of my goal setting includes maintaining a healthy balance.  That means not freaking out about calories all the time but still trying to get more veggies and less sugar.  One thing that keeps me on track is a healthy breakfast.  Have you noticed that when you skip breakfast you are starving for the rest of the day?  Not only does it make you more likely to want to eat 3 cookies mid-morning, but it is actually not healthy to be skipping meals.

I’ve decided to make this list of 10 healthy breakfast ideas to start 2016 off right.

There is a good variety here of high protein, some are gluten free, some are vegetarian or vegan, some are whole grain.  Something for everyone!  This is a roundup post, so it includes a few of my own recipes, and a few from other bloggers that I admire.  If you want to see the recipe, just click on the photo and it will take you right to  it.  So, here we go, in no particular order, 10 Healthy Breakfast Recipes to Start 2016 Off Right.

  9. Heyyy Meghan! Love this round up! No doubt a nourishing breakfast is always a great way to start the day, but variety is important too. I often get stuck in a breakfast rut, mainly because I’m lazy and don’t want to put forth the mental energy to make something new! I love all the choices in your post! Your tropical green smoothie sounds divine and that chia pudding… OMG! I just tried Chia pudding for the first time a few weeks ago and woah is it fabulous! Thank you for this my dear and including those baked oats! xo

    1. Thank you so much Traci! Variety is so important, I think that is half the reason that people don’t want to eat healthy, they are just bored. I need to try chia pudding still, definitely have got Bella’s on my list.

  10. I want to eat THEM ALL! Nom nom. Breakfast is most definitely the star meal of my day and this is most definitely an awesome round-up! I love the mix of sweet and savoury options that you’ve chosen Meghan.

  11. Breakfast is by far my favorite meal! I can definitely notice when I don’t have a good breakfast because I am hungrier the rest of the day. These all look like great ways to start the day!

  12. Perfect round-up post for this time of year, post Christmas indulgence! I love the look of Traci’s baked apple walnut oats especially, will be trying those for sure (date butter sounds so heavenly I definitely need to investigate!). Love your green smoothie too <3

    1. Thanks so much Claudia! The tropical smoothie is something I make a few times a week, it is one of my favorites! And I have had my eye on those walnut baked oats since Traci posted them, they look so good!

  13. I’m not much of a breakfast person but these look great!! I know what you mean about goal setting. I’ve been trying for months to do it properly. I guess the important thing is to not give up, right? I am finally starting to realize that success is about the little things you do day in and day out… not about a few big things you do once in a while. Sounds totally obvious but yeah, I think being successful is largely dependent on the work you put in and how you execute vs. just “being lucky”.

    1. Natasha – absoultely! I think that the little things are what make the biggest difference, it just takes consistency! Which is hard 🙂 One of the things I have been working on is breaking my big goals down into everyday tasks, and just focusing on those as mucu as possible. Thanks so much and Happy New Year!

  14. So pleased to see my eggs in such delicious company. I will be exploring many of these in the mornings to come. That fitbit, though? It’s still in the “thinking about it” realm. I think I need a personal trainer. With no sympathy.

    1. Thanks Christine, so happy to have you here. I think you should GO for the fitbit! It really does help amp up the fitness levels. I have the Charge HR and I love it.

  15. Great share!! Inspired to focus on breakfast & some of these will join our regular menus!
Happy New Year, Miz Fox & Mr. Briar!
