These Korean Ground Beef Bowls are an easy and quick ground beef recipe, perfect for weeknight dinners! The flavors of beef bulgogi made easy using ground beef!
I’m back again with an easy weeknight dinner! This time I wanted to make an easy ground beef recipe, since almost everyone has a package of ground beef in their freezer and thinks: “What can I make for dinner with ground beef?”
Well, I have a quick and easy ground beef recipe that you will love: Korean Ground Beef Bowls. Your family will love these rice bowls and you will love how easy they are to make.
What is a Korean Ground Beef Bowl?
The idea around these Korean beef bowls is that you take the flavors of Korean beef bulgogi but take a shortcut and use ground beef. It ends up being a delicious dinner that takes about 20 minutes to make.
Started with an easy ground beef stir fry – just brown the beef and add the sauce. I served the beef over white rice and topped it with a sunny side up egg. A garnish of sesame seeds and sliced green onions is optional, but makes it pretty.
Other than being fast, easy and delicious, another thing I love about this recipe is that it has ingredients you probably already have on hand, and are actually pretty inexpensive. Ground beef and rice recipes are classic for a reason! Would you like to see more ground beef recipes on the blog? Leave me a comment and let me know!

Korean Ground Beef Bowl
Ingredients
For Sauce:
- 1/4 cup low sodium soy sauce
- 4 cloves garlic finely minced or grated
- 1 tablespoon sesame oil
- 2 tablespoons brown sugar
- 1 tablespoon rice vinegar
- 1 tablespoon ginger root grated
- 1 teaspoon chili garlic sauce
For Korean Beef Bowls:
- 1 1/2 pounds ground beef
- 3 green onions sliced, green and white parts separated
- 4 eggs
- 4 teaspoons butter
- 1 ½ cups cooked rice
- sesame seeds optional, for garnish
Instructions
- Whisk together the sauce ingredients, set aside
- Place a large pan over medium high heat on the stove. Add the ground beef and brown, breaking the meat up as it cooks until done, approximately 4–6 minutes.
- Pour the sauce over the meat and bring to a simmer. Stir in the white parts of the green onions, cook for 3–4 minutes.
- Meanwhile fry the eggs.
- Heat a frying pan over medium heat. When the pan is hot add the butter. Once butter is melted, crack the eggs into the pan, being careful not to break the yolk. Reduce heat to low. Fry until whites are set and yolks are cooked to desired doneness, 4–5 minutes.
- To make the Korean beef bowl: Add rice to a bowl, top with korean ground beef, then a fried egg.
- Garnish with green onions and sesame seeds.

Excellent. I added a ton of veggies to the bowl. I served my husband’s with cauliflower rice. I added 2 tablespoons of the sauce to it then layered everything, topped with fried egg & drizzled sriracha. The rest of of had yellow rice I stead.
I’m so happy you loved it Rebecca!
Easy, quick & delicious 👍🏻
So glad you liked it Sue!
Delicious…. I made it with ground beef for the family. Huge ginger lovers so I added more and sliced up some Napa cabbage and grated carrots. Delicious. For myself I used tofu still delicious and honey to sub for the sugar. Thank you for this.
Wonderful! So glad you loved it! I’m glad to know it works with tofu!
Son and I made this as is, but we doubled the sauce. Made some quick pickled matchstick carrots, which provided just the right amount of acidity to balance the sweetness. This is delicious. Thanks for the recipe.
I’m so happy you loved it!
This was AMAZING!!!! My hubby and I both Loved it!!! I have never posted a review before, but I had to on this one! It was so yummy. You will not be disappointed. Thank you for sharing.
Hi Heather – thank you so much for your review! I am so happy you loved the recipe!
Just made this for dinner. Husband thoroughly enjoyed it! He was stationed in South Korea for a year and enjoyed how Koreans flavored beef. We sometimes eat at the Korean restaurants here in Kentucky but it gets expensive for small portions-they never serve enough meat. This ground beef recipe easily saves us money, allows us to increase our meat to rice portions, and is seriously flavorful! We plan to make this often. Thanks for sharing!
I’m so happy to hear that!
I absolutely love this recipe. I was looking for a different ground beef recipe and thought I would try this. I had most of the ingredients but was making a run to the store for weekly shopping and came across some Napa cabbage. So I shredded a small head and added that at the end with the heat off and covered it so it was slightly wilted just to add a little something extra. My son loved this dish and it’s now been added as one of my ‘go to’ recipes. Thank you!
Yay, so happy you and your family loved it! I love the cabbage addition!
Hot damn. So good.
So happy to hear that!
Yummy and quick….thank you so much. I will add this to my meal rotation.
So glad you loved it Semida!
We had to make some substitutes cause I didn’t want to go to the store. But recipe is our new favorite. We have tried several and most of them have to much sugar. Thanks you
So happy to hear that Melissa!
Thanks so much for sharing this recipe. It’s become a staple in my home. I’ve made it with beef, turkey, tofu (and mixes of those things when I don’t have enough of one) and it comes out delicious and satisfying each time. I like to add whatever veggies I have on hand, and play with the spice level depending on my mood.
Also easy to make big batches of for meal prep for the week’s lunches (just with a soy egg instead of fried for easier packing)!
Hi Midori – I am so happy to hear that! Thank you for your comment!
Wonderful! Was seeking a new recipe for boring ground beef and found this one. Thank you!! We loved it
I’m so happy you loved it Dawn!
These bowls are SO GOOD! I’ve started making it once a week and my girlfriend loves it too!
Yay!! I am so happy to hear that Heather!
I made sticky rice in my instant pot while I made the beef and everything was ready at the same time. I wanted to up the veg content so I chopped some carrots and threw them in with the rice (cooked perfectly and added a great splash of color) and also had a couple heads of baby boy Choy that needed to get used up so I chopped them up and tossed them in with the beef at the end and just allowed them to wilt a bit (could easily see myself doing this with various other greens – spinach, baby kale, chard, etc… even broccoli florets). It was awesome and appreciate by all everyone in my family! Will def do again!! Thanks for the FAST and DELICIOUs dinner!!
Hi Tory – I love all the extra veggies you added, great idea! I’m so happy you and your family loved it!
I just bought 4 one pound packages of ground chuck so I can make these whenever I want, which will be quite often. Very easy and quick, as well as open to adaptation and uses stuff I always have around. Oh, and also got some Kim-chi to further the complexity. This dish is truly delicious and satisfies my desire for something spicy and flavorful.
So happy you love it Jean! Love that you added kimchi!
Really enjoyed it.
SO happy to hear that!
I gave this a try last night and it came out perfectly! Fool-proof and so delicious. Everyone loved it 🙂
Yay, so happy to hear that! Thank you Maritza!
I made this for dinner last night and all four of us loved. Sadly there are no leftovers. But seriously I had zero minutes to spend making dinner last night and this was a lifesaver. Will definitely be making it again.
Yay! That makes me so happy, thanks Christine!
